CoDOA

Creating a Sustainable Funding Scheme for Diamond Open Access through Institutional Collaboration in Switzerland (CoDOA-CH)

Objective of the CoDOA project

Diamond Open Access (DOA) refers to a non-commercial model of open access publishing that is scholar-led and free of charge for authors and readers. However, sustainable funding for scholar-led journals presents a major obstacle to advancing Diamond Open Access publishing at the national level. Against this background, the CoDOA project – as an initiative of eleven partner institutions – seeks to devise a community-driven and collaborative process with the aim of setting up a national Diamond Open Access consortium to enable a long-term and sustainable consortial funding scheme for high-quality Diamond Open Access journals in which researchers at Swiss research institutions publish.

The CoDOA-CH project is co-funded by swissuniversities and the partner institutions.

Work Packages

  1. Devising a legally sound, administratively efficient and financially sustainable framework for the consortium, its management and operations;
  2. Developing a consortial funding scheme with focus on its sustainability and tailored to the conditions of the Swiss institutional landscape;
  3. Promoting an inclusive communication strategy with the aim of actively engaging academic institutions, funding agencies, policymakers, and scholarly communities.
